Unfortunately, ASIC is very strict with their payment deadlines and will rarely waive late fees, except in very specific circumstances. They will usually only consider waiving a fee where there are genuine issues preventing on time payment, such as…
- Delays caused by issues with ASIC;
- court caused delays;
- records have been damaged by fire, floor or other natural disaster; or
- a natural disaster prevented you from accessing records in your home or business.
They will not waive fees where there was a failure to lodge on time, where you did not receive your annual statement or you didn’t have funds to pay.
You can apply for a fee waiver if you believe you meet the criteria. This can be completed online here.
