Once you reach a certain income level, you are required to start making repayments towards your STSL debts. Each year, the ATO will publish the updated income thresholds as well as the repayment percentages so you should check their website for the current details.
Keep in mind that the repayment amount is not determined by the size of your debt, but is based on your taxable income.
